Pediatric Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at St. Luke’s Children's Hospital features a separate specialized area designed to meet the needs of children and families for urgent or emergent pediatric care. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of adult and critical care rooms, the units have colorful murals on the floors and walls, cheerful décor, and equipment and beds designed just for pediatric patients.

A separate waiting room with a play area for young children has a supply of books, toys, and games to keep siblings happy while their brother or sister is being treated. Bedside registration is the rule, which means very little time in the waiting room for patients; and two X-ray rooms located in the department assist with quick diagnosis and treatment. Our board certified pediatric emergency medicine specialist work with our Emergency Department staff to ensure excellent pediatric care for young patients presenting with everything from traumatic injuries to acute illnesses.
