Lost: 125 Pounds
Gained: A life of adventure
Even at 293 pounds, Luella Bryte tried to stay active. It was tough, though. The extra weight kept her from doing things she liked to do: flying was uncomfortable, so it was hard to travel; and she quit horseback riding – one of her great passions.
“I just felt so sorry for the horse, having to carry all that weight,” she says.
She had growing health problems, too: her ankles hurt constantly, and her blood pressure was up.
She was 40 when she made an appointment with Dr. Bob Korn, and decided to have gastric bypass surgery. That was four years ago. Today, Luella has a new life. She’s 125 pounds lighter and gets out of bed every day full of energy.
“I’ve lost weight before,” she says. “I lost 100 pounds three times, but I gained it right back each time. This time I knew I had to succeed.”
She did exactly what she was supposed to – eating right, walking, and doing other exercise. Since she lost the weight she has been on three cruises and bought a motorcycle. Every day is a new adventure.
"It opened up a whole new world for me,” she says. “I live each day to the fullest. I love people and they love me. I just love life.”
