Who We Are
Opened in 1972 under the administration of the MSTI Patient and Family Support Services, the Bishop Foote Guest House was established to provide a convenient, economical home away from home for Mountain States Tumor Institute patients who were undergoing treatment and for their adult family members who wished to stay near them. Today we welcome guests and their adult family members who are under direct medical care at Mountain States Tumor Institute, St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital as well as other area medical facilities.
The house is intended to help patients and their families maintain a near-normal lifestyle while away from home and give them opportunities for camaraderie with others in situations similar to their own.
Our mission is to provide a convenient, affordable and welcoming place for our guests to rest while receiving treatment or providing support to a loved one. The emphasis at the Bishop Foote House is on community.
Guest House Living Arrangements
Living arrangements at the Bishop Foote Guest House are similar to a Bed & Breakfast. Guests share tables in the sunny dining area. They may also watch television together and visit in the spacious, comfortably furnished living room. For those who enjoy reading, there is a variety of books, magazines and other literature as well as internet access.
While guests are responsible for their own meals, a well-equipped kitchen is available for those who wish to cook their meals and ample space to store pantry or refrigerator items off the kitchen.
The Bishop Foote Guest House can accommodate 17 persons comfortably in its 11 tastefully decorated bedrooms (five single and six double). When more room is needed, additional beds may be added to some rooms.
Who We Serve
We currently serve the patients and their adult family members of:
- Mountain States Tumor Institute
- St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center
- Veteran’s Administration Hospital
- Elk’s Rehabilitation Hospital
As well as other medical facilities in the area. Guests and their adult family members must be under the direct care of a physician in order to qualify for occupancy at the Bishop Foote Guest House. Guests must also be medically stable and able to manage stairs, as our facility is not handicap accessible.
Transportation is available to and from downtown St Luke’s, MSTI, the Idaho Elks Rehab Hospital and the VA Medical Center.
Rates
Room rates are kept as low as possible to make the facility available to all patients and their adult family members who wish to stay here. A manager is on duty from 10 am-3 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Single rooms are $15/night + tax
- Double rooms are $20/night + tax
Patients who feel they cannot afford to pay the rates may apply for financial assistance through other sources. Please call 208-381-3055 for our current rates.
The Guest House is not handicap accessible. Patients and/or family members must be able to meet their own physical needs or have a family member to stay with them to assist in their care. All guests must be 18 years of age or older.
