St. Luke's YAK! is a healthy youth initiative that strives to build the Developmental Assets of youth in our community.
We build Developmental Assets through community service opportunities, afterschool activities, and a variety of programs to connect youth with other youth, adults, and organizations in the Wood River Valley and beyond.

What are Developmental Assets for Youth?
- Developmental Assets are 40 "building blocks," or specific, positive experiences and qualities that help youth make wise decisions, choose constructive paths, and grow up competent, caring, and healthy.
- When present, Assets protect young people from risk-taking behaviors and nurture positive behaviors.
- Asset Building is a philosophy which frames a vision of individuals and community valuing next-generation youth.
- In an Asset Building community, all residents see themselves as guardians of the community's youth.
- Anyone can be an Asset Builder and contribute to Developmental Assets in youth.
- The number of Developmental Assets experienced by a young person is strongly correlated with their academic performance, social well-being, and health.
