St. Luke's Children's Hospital   Surgery Tour For Kids

Going to Sleep

The nurse will check Ellery’s blood pressure and put a soft clip on her finger. She will also put some special stickers on her chest that will tell the doctor how her heart is doing. None of these things hurt, and they all help keep Ellery safe during her surgery.

Ellery’s nurse helps her pick out a good dream while she goes to sleep. Ellery takes some nice deep breaths and soon drifts off. Remember, this is a special kind of sleep where Ellery will not wake up or feel anything during her surgery. When Ellery wakes up, her surgery will be all done!

Hi, kids!
