Caring for Kids and Families

Idaho Elks Children's Pavilion is a state-of-the-art facility on our Boise campus offering vital pediatric services that keep care close to home.

The building unites most of our pediatric specialties and our downtown Boise general pediatric services under one roof, which allows us to better coordinate services between providers and deliver care that meets the physical and emotional needs of our patients and families.

It's also connected to the St. Luke's Children's Hospital via sky bridge, which allows young patients with complex medical needs to easily transfer from their doctors’ offices directly to the hospital, if needed.

Sofia

2025 CMN Hospitals Champion: Sofia

Sofia’s life changed forever when she suddenly collapsed, losing nearly all movement from the neck down. Rushed to St. Luke’s Children’s, she was diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM), a rare condition affecting the spinal cord and hindering the brain’s ability to communicate with the muscles. For a month, Sofia received critical care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where the medical team worked tirelessly to support Sofia.

Sofia underwent a nerve transfer surgery to help her regain function in her right arm, which had been severely affected by AFM. The surgery was a huge success, and within months, Sofia regained a significant amount of function in her right arm, a milestone that filled her family with hope and gratitude.

Though her journey is far from over, her strength and determination are unwavering, and there is no doubt she will continue to make remarkable progress as she continues her rehabilitation.
